Iyamah’s Self-Wellness Friday
I would like to congratulate myself for having patience. Having patience may seem small, but for me, it’s vital for living. When I’m asking the universe for guidance, I’m specific with my requests.
I’m continually realizing the truth in the saying, “everything doesn't need to be rushed.” Most times we have to learn to take our time with ourselves, as you could be missing out on important things in life, such as blessings by hurried actions. I see a lot of people being in a hurry for no reason. I don’t think that it’s being done intentionally. It’s almost like they have trained themselves to move and live like robots. I am training my mind to slow down. I tell myself that life is going to happen.” Rushing through your days can put unnecessary stress on your body.
I believe things that are meant for you are going to happen. I also feel that we can miss out on blessings that are solely designed for our lives by being in such a hurry. As I navigate through my journey in this lifetime, I have had to check myself periodically about things that I thought I had under control. I have felt as though I had things all together, then something happens and I find myself rushing through a moment that could have easily been handled with better care and thought.
How we interact with one another is very important. How do you interact with yourself? Are you one that rushes through your days? Self-care is holding yourself accountable for slowing down in life and paying attention to all that's around us. Are you patient with yourself? Do you ever sit quietly with just you? Do you listen to yourself? How are we going to go out into the world and interact with people with the same rushed energy that we place on ourselves? You first have to learn how to discipline yourself. You must be fair to yourself.
When I am patient with myself and my affairs, I find it easier for me to understand and interact with others daily. Having patience is a form of good communication. It’s a way to communicate with folks. It’s a choice. You have to know how to interact with yourself first. You are also teaching others how to approach you by your demeanor. Maintaining a steady pace in life feels good, and it feels healthy. You are the most important person in the world. Treat yourself well and you will naturally show others how to properly treat you.
